Lithium

Lithium is the lightest metal in the periodic table, with the symbol “Li” and  atomic number 3. Its high energy density and lightweight properties make it one of the world's most important critical minerals for the clean energy transition.

Lithium is primarily used in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that power electric vehicles, energy storage systems, smartphones, laptops, and other portable electronics. It is also used in glass, ceramics, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, and air treatment applications, making it an essential material across multiple industries.

Lithium is extracted from hard-rock pegmatites and brine deposits, with additional potential sources including clays and geothermal brines. As global demand for electric vehicles and renewable energy continues to accelerate, lithium has become a strategic resource recognized by governments worldwide as a critical mineral supporting energy security, technological innovation, and decarbonization.
